A Rocha Czech field centre

After searching several years, A Rocha Czech has found an ideal site for a centre in a river valley near Dobruška, in Northeastern Bohemia. It was originally a grain mill, then a textile mill, located in one-half of an old, spacious building located on 2.5 hectares of land – meadows and forests – within thirty kilometres of the ecologically important Eagle Mountains, Grandmother’s Valley and the Rozkoš reservoir. Protecting threatened birds – In East and South Bohemia A Rocha Czech is studying, monitoring and working to protect three species which have seriously declined in recent years: Common Kingfisher, White-throated Dipper, and Little Owl.

Protecting threatened habitats – Orlické Záhoří is a 904 hectare marshland and grassland site in Eastern Bohemia. The area holds important populations of Corncrake and Red-backed Shrike, both of which are priority species under the EU Birds Directive. More...
