A Rocha South Africa

A Rocha South Africa is partnering with African Enterprise in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, to develop and implement an environmental management plan for their 66 hectare mist belt property and collaborate on creation care.

Two streams which border the land form part of the uMngeni river catchment, one of the most important in South Africa, for which water demand is high, so improvements will benefit water availability for the city, as well as the wildlife.

Activities will include the clearance of invasive plants from the forest, wetland, grassland and riverine areas so that the indigenous vegetation can recover, and species surveys. The conference centre will host community and church events to promote environmental stewardship, and new energy and water conservation measures will be initiated.
