Reception

Volunteers and Interns

At the Tourades centre there are continuously four to ten volunteers who stay for a few weeks, months or even a year, as part of the community commitment to nature conservation. Each application receives particular attention so that the candidate's expectations are reflected in their activities at the centre, and a personalised project is put in place, which is monitored by a member of the permanent team.

While the interns carry out fieldwork, observations and work which is required for their studies, the other volunteers participate in scientific activities, and may contribute to awareness raising, communication activities or documentary research, as well as to the general upkeep and management of the house and nature garden.

The fieldwork, which is very diverse, takes into account each individual's area of expertise, always in keeping with the A Rocha core values.

Volunteers and interns find the Tourades a place of community living, respectful of autonomy, encouraging responsibility and the freedom of the individual, where the international and intercultural mixing is an exceptional experience of discovery and open-mindedness. All the more so since the voluntary work is aimed at all ages!

At the weeks end an 'Epilogue' which volunteers are invited to lead, provides a regular time of sharing on a subject of personal interest, faith or a biblical theme.
