'Between Heaven and Earth' Nature Garden

Originally planted in the 1930’s, the garden remained unaddressed from 2000 until 2005.  It was then that we started to develop it into a garden both for practical human use and for the local wildlife.

Plan Jardin nature 'Entre Ciel et Terre'

The following convictions influenced the design of the garden:

  • The urgent need to protect biodiversity in France, particularly in our gardens

  • The need to establish a practical link between the environment of Tourades and our local environment, La Vallée des Baux.

Azuré commun (Polyammatus icarus) sur Fenouil

Landscapers Klass-Hemke Meekeren, Pieter Voets and Sophie Tron designed a garden allowing:

  • Its adaptation to the needs of the centre’s inhabitants, at all times minimizing its ecological footprint.
  • The creation of wildlife habitats, whilst simultaneously considering aesthetics and design.
