The Lea Brook Valley today
These pictures will give you a flavour of the Lea Brook Valley. For the full
experience, come along and try it for yourself!
Woodland is one of the key habitats in the valley. Plans are in hand to
create a wildflower meadow, a new pond, and, adjacent to the site, a wildlife
garden. The valley also includes some wetland which we hope to be working on.

Primroses - just one of the flowering plants that bring some floral colour into
the Lea Brook Valley, right in the heart of Dronfield.

A Nuthatch. Look for these climbing up or down tree trunks, or along branches on
the older trees in the valley. Listen for their loud 'doo-eet' calls too. Their
name is derived from 'nut-hack'.

The Peacock may be a common butterfly, but don't let that detract from its
beauty.

|
The presence of a top-predator is a good sign - it shows that the habitat has
enough food to support them. This Sparrowhawk has taken, and is
plucking, a pigeon.
