Volunteer Education and Events, Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to help us deliver our programme of events and school group visits throughout the year.

Aston Rowant NNR can be found in the Chilterns AONB, near the village of Watlington. The reserve is easy to get to, just off junction 6 of the M40 and is a fine example of chalk grassland and ancient beech woodland. We have an exciting programme of events planned for 2010 including our annual Sounds Like Summer festival and Glow Wild lantern walk. We have a primary school education pack and offer tailor made visits to school groups all year round.

Volunteers will be able to take part in a range of tasks relating to school visits and events including visit/event planning, making and maintaining activity kits, promotion of events, helping with school visits and events and even recruiting new volunteers. Volunteers might also like to get involved with school visits to farms nearby, or with outreach visits to schools.

To begin with volunteers can join us once a week on a Monday, with more varied/frequent opportunities as more visits start in the spring. You can join us every week or less frequently as suits you, just give us a call to discuss. We also pay travel expenses.

Previous experience is helpful but not essential; this is a great way for you to gain some! We are also always looking for practical conservation volunteers.
