Who we are
These pages tell you our story and why we're involved in 'creation care'. We
hope they will encourage you to do more to care for this wonderful world
yourself.
These days, there is much talk about 'the environment' – from climate change
to toxic pollution. We believe that we need to do more than talk; we need to be
different, and to be different with others. This is an important part of
biblical Christian faith and something that we're passionate about.
If everyone waits for someone else to act, nothing will change. Our aim is to
help you to do something practical as an individual, living in your local
community, perhaps as a member of a local church, and as part of the global
community.
We trust that being connected with us will help you on your journey. You can
receive our magazine without charge. Obviously, A Rocha's charitable mission
work has significant costs and we hope that you will give to support our work. A
monthly gift of just £5 enables us to cover our costs and makes a difference in
protecting God's good creation.
We hope that with our help you will get inspired, get informed and get
involved.
Let's care for God's world together!

Our beginnings and our international work
A Rocha started with a field study centre in Portugal in 1983 under the
leadership of Peter and Miranda Harris (A Rocha is Portuguese for 'the rock').
Ten years later, A Rocha decided to respond to the growing number of requests to
help establish other distinctively Christian projects in other parts of the
world.
