South Africa
An artificial heronry for birds in Pietermaritzburg
Following the loss of suitable natural habitat for bird nesting, A Rocha
volunteers and partners in South Africa have helped to create an artificial
heronry and nesting site.
Continuous monitoring helps the team to learn more about the birds using the
site, and their needs.

Canada
Shorekeeping on Semiahmoo Bay, British Columbia
A study, started in 2004, monitors a section of shore just east of the Little
Campbell Estuary, and contributes to the shorekeeping study of a Canadian
governmental agency.

Kenya
Ecotourism in the Arabuko-Sokoke forest
Initiated by A Rocha Kenya, the Arabuko-Sokoke Schools and Ecotourism Scheme
(ASSETS) is a sustainable development programme that helps provide secondary
school scholarships, whilst promoting the conservation of the rich environments
of Kenya’s Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and Mida Creek.

Ghana
Community resource management and the Mole National Park.
The Mole National Park is the largest and best known of Ghana's national
parks, and it is under considerable threat. Neighbouring communities have high
poverty levels and few sources of income, so the park suffers from hunting and
foraging.
A Rocha Ghana is working with the government's Wildlife Division and
representatives from some of Mole National Park's neighbours to create a
Community Resource Management Area (CREMA), so that wildlife resources may be
sustainably utilised and, with equipment and training, locals can generate
income from natural resources.
