Cat Shannon, Conservation Event Coordinator 2011-2012

" I have very much enjoyed my time interning for A Rocha and have learned so many skills in which I can apply to future employment. I have been able to apply what I have learned in lectures at University to a practical working environment, and this has enabled me to have a better understanding of the significance of conservation work. I was communicating and building relationships with associated and partner projects and learned how these are essential for education and conservation, whilst assisting with the magazine and articles. I will be able to take away vital work and practical skills for the future and would greatly like to continue volunteering and helping A Rocha develop and grow."

Sarah Hodgetts

Sarah Hodgetts, Minet Intern 2009-2010

"I decided to volunteer for A Rocha because it provided a good opportunity to spend a significant amount of time to acquire a range of valuable experience, particularly in terms of species and habitat surveys and identification skills.  It was also an opportunity to understand further what A Rocha was about and to meet and learn from others who have different skills and experiences to share. I am now working full time for Mott MacDonald Ltd in their Environment Division as a Graduate Ecologist. I have no doubt that my experiences with A Rocha helped me to get an interview and to get the job offer. My current assignments include conducting Phase 1 and walk-over surveys, desk-studies for reports and protected species surveys."

Kajsa Brittsjo

Kajsa Brittsjo, Conservation Events Coordinator 2009-2010

"During my year with A Rocha I gained valuable insight and experience in how a conservation organisation like A Rocha works. I now have a good oversight of what makes a successful project and have learnt a lot about event organising and management. The projects I was put in charge of have challenged me, encouraging existing skills to grow and new ones to develop. A Rocha also made it possible for me to gain experience beyond my assigned title and I was able to assist with surveys, potential projects, web and display board design."
