2002: Healing the Land
Created in 2002 for use on Conservation Sunday (now known as "Environment
Sunday") - and suitable for use on any Sunday in any year!
This pack has been tried and tested by many churches and we have received an
overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to the materials. It provides an
opportunity for churches to focus on biblical teaching about God's world.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and
pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from
heaven and will forgive their sin and will HEAL THEIR LAND." - 2 Chronicles
7.14
The pack includes:
- Looking at the ecological and community dimensions of "Healing the Land"
- Service order for a main Sunday service and an All-age service, both with
ideas for activities, worship, and a choice of sermon and teaching material on
"Healing the Land"
- Biblical teaching on the theology of the land (with help from Dr. Chris
Wright.)
- Reflections (in the light of the "Transformations" movement, and with help
from Russ Parker) on the links between the healing of the land and the healing
of "place" and of communities.
- Group study material looking at today's land-use issues in the light of
biblical principles, with advice on how to pray for the rural community, and
implications for those in urban areas
- Ideas on practical activities that Christians can get involved in locally
- Information of where to go for further information
