In early April, 15 songwriters gathered at a church in Nashville, Tennessee, for a day and a half of writing around the theme of earth stewardship. Hear one of the beautiful new songs and enjoy the video (2.5 mins):
The A Rocha group in Nashville says, ‘We invited Robin Gottfried (Director of the Center for Religion and the Environment at Sewanee University) and three of his environmental studies students to join the group for dinner and conversation. What followed was funny, earnest and poignant story-telling about our connections with creation, our memories of moments in nature and of how these interactions have left lasting impressions in our imaginations.
The next day songwriting commenced, and after about six hours we had five songs nearly complete. We hope these new songs of worship, hope and honesty will help the story stick in people’s hearts and minds, and that they will serve as the start of a soundtrack to further grow love and concern for God’s whole creation.’
A Rocha USA adds, ‘Telling the A Rocha story in a way that sticks has been difficult here, but as we waited and prayed for A Rocha to take shape in Nashville over the past year, we realized that many members of our community there are musicians and songwriters. Bringing music to the story of A Rocha seemed an obvious next step.’
