New centre for A Rocha France near Nice

In the hills behind Nice, A Rocha France has just taken over Les Courmettes, thanks to the kindness of another French association, Amiral de Coligny, who have given us the use of it for the next 20 years. This exciting 600 hectare site, rising from 300 to 1200 metres, holds a wealth of natural habitats and has spectacular views of the Côte d'Azur. It also has a conference centre, accommodation for up to 25 volunteers, and will welcome thousands of day-visitors each year for a range of activities from walking to environmental education. A scientific programme focusing on climate change is also planned, and the initial team of four moves in shortly. There is an urgent need to rehabilitate the facilities and to staff some of the activities, so anyone who thinks they could support this exciting new initiative in any way is invited to contact paul.jeanson@free.fr
