The Care of Creation, edited by RJ Berry

The care of creation, edited by RJ BerryThe care of creation, published in the UK, is a commentary on the 1994 "Evangelical Declaration on the Care of Creation" which has been endorsed by several hundred church leaders throughout the world.

The foreword by John Stott is one of the most succinct and useful summaries I have read describing how Christians should relate to the natural world. One quote from the foreword is highlighted on the cover, "God intends . . . our care of the creation to reflect our love for the Creator." It is this powerful conviction which led to the establishment of A Rocha, and the belief is shared by the authors of the declaration.

The foreword is followed by the text of the Declaration, five chapters addressing its context and fourteen chapters commenting on different aspects by theologians and environmental practitioners, including "The earth under threat" by Ghillean Prance and "A new look at old passages" by Peter Harris.

The care of creation, edited by RJ Berry, 213 pp, is published by Inter-Varsity Press, paperback, £9.99, ISBN 0-85111-657-4.
