David Payne

David is the ARI Representative with A Rocha Kenya and A Rocha Uganda. He is also interested in looking at new ways of strengthening and developing environmental and conservation activities in partnership with churches and local communities in countries where A Rocha is not yet a registered organisation. David was Managing Director of A Rocha International for 8 years until his retirement in 2008, and served as a Trustee and Chairman of A Rocha from 1993 to 1999.

After obtaining a degree in Agriculture at Cambridge University, David worked in Rural Development in Kenya between 1965 and 1985, most of that time as a Crosslinks partner with the Anglican Church. On returning to the UK, David studied for an MBA and served for 12 years as chief executive of Hospice in the Weald (West Kent). David and his wife Betty live at Wadhurst, East Sussex; they have three married children and six grandchildren.
