Rev Dr John Stott
John Stott,
Rector Emeritus of All Souls Langham Place, London, is well-known throughout the
world as a theologian and author.
His many classic works include Basic Christianity (IVF 1959) and
Issues Facing Christians Today (Marshall Pickering 1990).
He has consistently taught that God intends Christians' care of the creation
to reflect their love of the Creator. He has supported A Rocha's work from the
earliest days. He recently wrote
"It has been wonderful to watch A Rocha grow from its first faltering
footsteps in Portugal to the thriving movement that it is today. Steadily over
the years the theological foundations of A Rocha's vision have clarified, and in
addition, its ethos is now well defined in its emphasis on being a Christian,
community-based, cross-cultural conservation organisation. That God's hand is
upon A Rocha for good is evident from the way in which new, national movements
have kept arising, developing their own local shape, while at the same time
embracing the distinctive features of A Rocha."
The 2nd volume of John Stott's biography, A Global Ministry by
Timothy Dudley-Smith, has recently been published by Intervarsity Press, and
contains several mentions of A Rocha.
