Eco Intern at St Aldates Church, Oxford, UK

New for the 2010-2011 academic year, St Aldates is looking for an ‘Eco’ Intern, with a view to promoting the ‘greening’ of the church.

This person will be passionate about creation care, the environment and ecology. We expect applicants for this role to be equipped with some academic qualifications in these and related subjects.

As well as participating fully in the School of Ministry Intern programme and following all the subjects studied, he/she will help with the integration of the biblical background for creation care into the Interns’ teaching programme, and initiate ecologically-friendly practical changes at St Aldates. He/she will develop this new School of Ministry internship position while in Oxford, networking with local and national Christian environmental organisations, particularly A Rocha UK, and reporting to Anita Cleverly – a member of the Senior Leadership team. This internship requires a self-starting, highly creative young person, strong in organisational skills and with some knowledge of Christian environmental initiatives.

Dates: mid-Sept 2010 to July 31 or Aug 5, 2011

More about St Aldates and the School of Ministry

A House of Prayer for All Nations at the Heart of Oxford

St Aldates is a vibrant Anglican church, committed to Word and Spirit, worship and prayer, community and fun. St Aldates runs a School of Ministry internship programme, inviting 18–25s from the UK and abroad to come and join the staff team for an enriching and transforming year. The vision is: give a year to God and get equipped for a lifetime!

The school is geared to those who want to go deeper in their relationship with God and learn more about who He created them to be and how best to use the gifts that He has given to them. The interns spend part of each week in teaching and part assigned to a specific department, where they can flex their gifting muscles and put what they are learning into practice. There are also opportunities throughout the year to take part in conferences, house parties and outreach – a particular highlight is the Easter overseas mission trip. Each intern receives regular support and mentoring and is invited to join a Pastorate so that they can more fully integrate into the exciting life of St Aldates.
