A Rocha Aotearoa NZ (ARANZ) and Te Whakaoranga o Karioi Inc Society (TWOK) together with Whaingaroa hapu, The Department of Conservation and other interested community groups and individuals are working to involve the Whaingaroa (Raglan) community in the restoration of a small segment of Karioi Maunga called the "Upper Wainui Reserve" through pest control and monitoring of flora and fauna.

Mount Karioi is the only one of the Waikato mountains that hasn't had an active restoration plan... until now!  A management plan (application/pdf, 760.6 kB, info) has recently been prepared.
