Christchurch Past Events - 2008

Dec 2008 - Festive afternoon tea.

Nov 2008 - Meeting. There was a lot of interest in sustainable energy last meeting, so this was a chance to throw some ideas around, particularly about the Mokihinui dam on the West Coast, which some people think is a great idea and others think is an environmental disaster. For more information about the proposed dam, see the Meridian website, and follow the link to a fact sheet.

Nov 2008 - Walk at Travis Wetland. Not everyone wants to sit in a room and talk, so this was an opportunity to go for a stroll and connect with other members of the group, as well as look at a very positive environmental restoration project in Christchurch that will hopefully inspire us in the projects we are doing or will do in the future.

Nov 2008 - "Sustainable Transport". A talk by Steven Muir and Simon Kingham at St Barnabas (Fendalton Rd)

Nov 2008 - Okains bay camping.

July 2008 - Monthly meeting. Topic: carbon trading - Is this a useful way of reducing emissions, or an expensive, ineffective bureaucracy that will just result in business as usual?
