A Rocha Team and National Office BearersNational Team
Steve M Weaver - CEOSteve is an American born and South African trained conservationist with many years of conservation experience in both South Africa and the United States. In his most recent job as Parks Regional Manager for the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources he managed a very large national conservation concern. He also brings many years of experience in game ranch management on both continents. Steve has particularly enjoyed working with local communities around national protected areas and has a track record for successfully brokering the transfer of large tracts of private land for state conservation. He is married to Kathleen and they have two sons Matthew and Mark, and two daughters Becky and Carol. The Weavers live at Rietvlei, their farm in Groot Marico. Steve enjoys hiking, fishing, motor mechanics and studying eschatology, among many hobbies. Noluvuyo Mshumpela - Schools Field WorkerVuyo is A Rocha’s Schools’ Field Worker, part time, running our Creation Alive Clubs in Schools. She works part time for the Students’ Christian Organization on campuses in Pietermaritzburg. Vuyo also co-ordinates A Rocha’s special events like the annual Duzi River Clean up day. She comes from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape and she is fluent in English, isiXhosa and isiZulu. She has a diploma in Marketing, and has completed S.C.O.’s STEM Programme. In 2007 she will commence a part time diploma in Environmental Education. Noluvuyo works well with children and students alike, and enjoys beading. Joyann Goddard - AdministratorJoyann taught English before pioneering A Rocha with Allen and the ARZA initiating national committee. Besides being administrator at the national office Joyann has managed hospitality arrangements for many national team events, visiting guests and Time Out weekends. Joyann also teaches ballet and is setting up her own studio, Gracepointe School of Dance. She enjoys historical novels, crime fiction, Indian and Mediterranean cooking, Mahler symphonies and reading spiritual classics. Suzie Krügel - Finance ConsultantSuzie consults for ARZA from her own consultancey but she is becoming more and more part of the national team. She and her husband Johan live in Pietermaritzburg. They are parents and grandparents. Suzie has many years of experience in running the books and payrolls of Maritzburg NGOs. Allen Goddard - Director for Theology & CitizenshipBefore working in A Rocha Allen taught English for ten years in two high schools in Johannesburg and London, and then spent four years in IFES campus ministry with the Student Christian Organization. Part of his role in ARZA includes teaching at a Bible seminary and leading life revision courses at a local retreat centre. He, Joyann and their two sons live in Pietermaritzburg. Allen enjoys publishing poetry, journalistic and theological journal articles and daily Bible reading notes. He relaxes by cooking, going to the Maritzburg folk music club, exploring biodiversity centres of endemism, growing vegetables and walking the family dogs. Neil Dixon - WebmasterNeil is A Rocha’s part time webmaster. He is from Pietermaritzburg and has a degree in computer science and business information systems, and a diploma in Project Management. Neil works as a full time Performance Tester at T-Systems South Africa in Johannesburg. He enjoys cricket, flying model aircraft and playing drums. . . A Rocha South Africa’s Board Of Trustees
